About the Job
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled CT Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team. The CT Technologist will be responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) scans on patients, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnostic purposes. The ideal candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of CT procedures, patient care, and safety standards, and have experience in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities:
CT Scanning Procedures:
Perform CT scans according to physician orders and established protocols.
Position patients accurately to ensure the best quality imaging, adjusting equipment settings for each scan.
Administer contrast agents when necessary, following proper safety protocols.
Monitor image quality during scans and adjust techniques as needed to minimize artifacts and improve diagnostic value.
Patient Care and Safety:
Screen patients for contraindications and provide thorough explanations of the procedure to reduce anxiety.
Ensure patient comfort during the scan by offering guidance and support throughout the process.
Follow radiation safety standards, ensuring all precautions are taken to minimize exposure to both patients and staff.
Monitor patients' condition during procedures, especially when contrast media is used, and address any adverse reactions promptly.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Operate and maintain CT scanning equipment, ensuring it is functioning correctly and efficiently.
Perform regular quality control checks on equipment and report any technical issues for timely repair.
Stay updated with new CT technologies and protocols to enhance service quality.
Collaboration and Reporting:
Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely interpretation of CT images.
Review and analyze scans for completeness and quality before sending them to the radiologist.
Maintain accurate records and documentation, including patient history, scan results, and any adverse events during the procedure.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Adhere to all regulatory guidelines, including those set by the American College of Radiology (ACR), The Joint Commission, and applicable state or federal standards.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and protocols, particularly those related to radiation safety.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously enhance patient care and diagnostic services.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology, or equivalent from an accredited program.
ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology (CT certification preferred or required, depending on the state).
State licensure, where applicable.
1-3+ years of experience as a CT Technologist, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
In-depth knowledge of CT protocols, anatomy, and medical terminology.
Proficiency in operating CT equipment, administering contrast, and performing scans.
