Position Overview:
The Culinary Specialist is responsible for supporting new restaurant openings, providing hands-on culinary training, and assisting with recipe development. This role will play a critical part in ensuring consistent quality and execution across all locations. The Culinary Specialist will work closely with the culinary team, operations, and restaurant managers to foster a culture of excellence in the kitchen and maintain the brand's culinary standards.Travel will be required to provide on-site support at various restaurant locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Store Openings:
- Lead and support culinary operations during new restaurant openings.
- Leads kitchen setups including orders and that they align with corporate standards and local health regulations.
- Train opening staff on kitchen equipment, food preparation, and recipe adherence.
- Assist in troubleshooting any operational challenges during the launch phase.
- Culinary Training:
- Assist with culinary training programs for kitchen staff across multiple locations.
- Train operators on menu items, cooking techniques, portion control, and presentation.
- Ensure consistency in recipe execution and food quality across all locations.
- Provide ongoing culinary support and feedback to enhance staff performance.
- Recipe Development & Implementation:
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create and refine recipes in line with the brand's vision.
- Test new recipes and menu items, ensuring they meet taste, cost, and operational requirements.
- Document and communicate recipes clearly for use in training materials.
- Monitor the rollout of new menu items and provide feedback for improvement.
- Operational Support:
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations at all times.
- Provide culinary guidance and assist with troubleshooting in established locations when necessary.
- Travel:
- Travel to new and existing restaurants across various regions to provide on-site culinary support and training.
- Stay on-site for extended periods during the opening phase of new restaurants to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary experience preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a chef, culinary trainer, or in a similar role.
- Experience in multi-unit restaurant operations is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in recipe development and kitchen management.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and training abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in food safety and sanitation standards.
- Travel Requirement:
- Willingness to travel frequently, including extended stays during new restaurant openings (up to 75% travel).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a kitchen environment.
