Overall Objectives of Position
The Custodial Supervisor-is a working supervisor and supervises the Custodial staff and provides provisions for custodial services. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of this position. The Custodial Supervisor-is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs.
The Custodial Supervisor-is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.
Primary Responsibilities of the Custodial Supervisor-Facilities
- Assists the Facilities Manager-Custodial with scheduling of daily duties and assignments.
- Leads by example through performing cleaning duties as needed in the buildings of the Tribal Government and directs staff.
- Maintains the cleanliness and general upkeep of designated offices according to policies, guidelines, and schedules. Inspects the work of assigned staff to ensure daily performance standards are met, liaises with the relevant manager to address any variance.
- Maintains housekeeping equipment in proper operational condition and ensures security of equipment and supplies.
- Responsible for informing the Manager-Custodial of any maintenance issues or concerns.
- Operates and trains the custodial staff members on custodial equipment, i.e. vacuum cleaner, carpet shampooer, floor stripper and buffers, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist the Facilities Manager-Custodial with tracking Staff PTO.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person. Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Supervising the custodial staff including, but not limited to: developing recommendations to the Manager-Custodial for performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, recommendations for leave approvals, time sheets, etc.
- Responsible for supervising Tribal Government property, developing and reviewing cleaning checklists, and general supervision of Custodians.
- Schedules cleaning of Tribal Government buildings to ensure minimal disruption of staff.
- Assists Manager-Custodial in scheduling and supervision of floor stripping, waxing, and carpet shampooing.
- Inspects the work of assigned staff to ensure daily performance standards are met, liaises with the relevant manager to address any variance.
- Replaces depleted supplies (hand towels, soap, tissue, etc.) in offices, treatment areas, and restrooms as needed.
- Assists the Manager-Custodial in ordering supplies as directed.
- Assists Manager-Custodial in the interviewing and hiring of new staff as directed.
- Assists in Manager-Custodial with Vendors and Contractors communications and ordering supplies as directed.
- Collects and disposes of waste according to Housekeeping and Infection Control Policies.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and replenishes stock as needed.
- Inspects work of custodial staff.
- Assists the Manager-Custodial in training new hires.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Five (5) years’ experience in custodial/housekeeping field preferred.
- Three (3) years’ custodial/housekeeping field in an office setting required.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience in monitoring and coordinating the activities of subordinates, including general supervision, performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, leave approvals, timesheets, etc. preferred.
- Experience in the safe operation of custodial equipment, i.e. vacuum cleaner, carpet shampooer, floor stripper and buffers, etc. required.
- Absolute confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a high performance, fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Adept at multi-tasking, have unquestionable integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to quality.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist for an extended period of time as well as climb, lift, hold, and move objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a diverse audience.
- Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions, including moderately complex mathematical calculations.
- Must successfully complete applicable knowledge, skills, and abilities exams, including equipment operation testing.
- Must maintain a record of dependability and promptness.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal Insurance guidelines.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
