Description: The Custodial Supervisor performs responsible supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees/custodial company in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of academy buildings including but not limited to classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeteria/break rooms, building entrances, equipment, and hallways.
Qualifications/Requirements: A successful Custodial Supervisor must be able to adequately perform each essential duty and have the following education and experience:
A high school diploma or a general educational development (GED) certificate
Two or more years within a commercial cleaning environment
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
Demonstrated ability to independently as well as collaboratively make appropriate and rational judgments and decisions, reason effectively and solve problems.
Ability to lift and control weights between 10-60 lbs.
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Ability to effectively read, write and communicate the English language.
Comply with academy policies, safety policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of academy business and operations.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students, families and/or academy employees at the specific work site assigned (classroom and/or office setting).
Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance; notify academy management staff of any attendance issues.
This position is in the field 95%. Must have reliable transportation.
Essential Duties:
Facilitate custodial training for all new custodial employees; provide ongoing training as needed.
Assist with preparing work schedules for assigned employees.
Upon request, assist in interviewing prospective custodians.
Act as liaison between custodial staff/company and Academy Directors regarding personnel actions, as needed.
Assist the Director of Facilities with the development of departmental goals.
Review and test new cleaning products for vendors; make recommendations to the Director for consideration.
Perform custodial audits to ensure the quality of work, checklists, cleanliness of buildings, and to certify that safety procedures are followed; document, report, or correct any infractions. Custodial audits must be given to the Director of Facilities.
Replenish and distribute supplies and equipment in a timely manner to ensure the continued performance of custodial services at academies; work with academy office staff to conform to budgetary needs.
Performs special projects as directed, including emergency outbreak support team, floor refinishing, state inspection readiness.
Facilitate employee meetings with custodial team.
Custodian Complaints/Tickets < 3 per Month
Conducts site audits at each location on a bi-weekly basis. Audit reports should be documented and take action on any satisfactory results. Audit reports should be shared with Facilities Director.
Within 30 days, train and implement chipped paint corrections with internal custodians.
100% internal custodian checklist collection.
Time spent in the field should roughly equate to 95%
- Other Duties:
Sweep, wet and dry mop, strip, buff, and wax floors; participate in stripping floors.
Vacuum any and all rugs and shampoo carpet; remove spots and stains from carpets; advise on replacement.
Maintain clean restrooms, including floors, walls, sinks, urinals and commodes; replace toilet paper, towels and soap, wash and polish fixtures; clean windows and mirrors.
Clean and wash countertops and fixtures; set-up tables and chairs and move furniture; dust furniture, desks, woodwork, and blinds; clean academy doors and windows;
replace light bulbs and ceiling tiles (as applies to classrooms, lobbies, gym, and office areas).
Remove paper, trash, and garbage from assigned areas and place in proper containers for disposal; set containers out for pickup and removal at assigned times.
Operate custodial equipment such as: buffers, vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines and floor strippers, and other janitorial industry equipment as required.
Maintain the appearance at the entrance, clean windows, keep the lobby or entrance area neat, clean, and free from debris.
Patrol grounds around academy area, pick-up paper, cans, trash, and debris; clean walkways; sweep as needed.
Shovel and remove snow and/or ice around academy pathway areas as detailed and needed; salt ground to prevent slippage and falls as required.
Dust all HVAC vents and AC units within academy areas.
Assist in academy opening and closing procedures as needed.
Provide on-site training and re-training to Custodial Specialists as requested, in all aspects of the position. Site visits may be required.
All other duties as assigned.

This position includes the normal physical demands associated with work in an active environment including frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling, and carrying weight between 10-60 lbs.
