JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the office including cleaning, sanitizing restroom facilities, and collecting trash to ensure employees have a clean space to work in.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.
- Preforming maintenance activities related to cleaning including maintaining cleaning machinery.
- Cleaning spills, broken glass, and other messes up as quickly and safely as possible.
- Sanitizing restrooms and kitchen/cafeteria and other common areas.
- Changing air filters and cleaning vents.
- Dusting all surfaces.
- Sweeping, mopping, waxing floors and vacuuming.
- Washing windows.
- Refilling supplies, such as toilet paper and paper towels.
- Maintaining a thorough inventory.
- Using equipment, vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners.
- Collecting and taking out trash and recycling.
- Ordering new cleaning supplies as needed.
- May assist or perform snow removal activities.
- Ensure external grounds areas are clean and orderly.
- Move and/or re-arranges furniture, chairs, desks, tables, when directed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Prior cleaning/custodial experience preferred.
- Experience using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions.
- Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a US Citizen due to US Navy Contractual Agreements.
- Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools.
- Time-management and multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow health and safety standards.
- Organization skills.
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. . Must have physical strength and stamina, ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment. Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, bend etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
