CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK III - ASSESSOR’S OFFICE

THE POSITION: The Customer Service Clerk III is considered an important position in the operations of the Assessor’s Office because they serve as the initial point of contact and serves as the “face” of the Assessor’s office. Customer services is a paramount and vital function of the Assessor’s Office and the Customer Service Clerk III plays an important role in helping the Assessor to accomplish their departmental goals, projects, programs and objectives and thereby fulfill an important public service mission. In the day-to-day operations, the Customer Service Clerk III reports directly to the Manager of the Administrative Division. The person in this role furnishes excellence in front counter customer service to the public concerning matters of the Assessor’s Office; addresses inquiries from the general public and the various associated professionals regarding property assessment procedures and valuations; Interprets assessment calculations and appraisal notes from scanned/data records; answers basic questions regarding real property ownership and for the more complex inquiries compiles information and then coordinates with Appraisers, Land Records and Mapping Division staff and management to assist and resolve issues.
- $18.43 to $21.01 per hour depending on qualifications and experience

DO YOU QUALIFY?
- Do you have a high school diploma or GED with at least six (6) months related experience and/or training? No degree required.
- Do you have a one-year certificate in a secretarial program from a two-year college or professional/technical school?
- Do you have knowledge or experience in real estate, real property ownership transfers, chain of title combined with administrative and secretarial office procedures and practices?
- Do you have the ability to read and locate properties on a map and can you provide excellent customer service skills and excellent oral and written communication skills?
- Do you possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver's license, maintain a satisfactory driving record and are you insurable?
THIS IS THE JOB FOR YOU IF:
- You have good organizational skills and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- You enjoy providing customer service in an office setting that can be quite busy at times
- You are able to handle a high-volume phone system along with offering front counter customer service
- You are able to multi-task and maintain composure during stressful situations
- You are able to abide by established policies, procedures and rules
- You are able to multi-task in a high-volume environment and retain numerous details
- You are able to use diplomacy and discretion in giving out information and are able to refer and direct callers and visitors
