Position Summary
The Operational Specialist This position reports to and takes direction from the Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist the office manager in planning, organizing, and coordinating functions relating to the operation of the business.
- Maintain and update our established clients with accurate accountability of product related to storage locations, current route status, and information within internal tracking.
- Coordinates with different departments to achieve optimal work production across the board.
- Maintains an up-to-date listing of pickup and delivery routes and assigned drivers to include any 2-Man.
- Assures ready access to an up-to-date route sheet for each scheduled route, ensure drivers have returned daily route sheets.
- Assures that each scheduled route is appropriately covered by utilizing available relief or substitute drivers.
- Communicate with outside organizations, businesses, government organizations, and others as appropriate; communicate with team members as necessary.
- Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Assist associates with work process problems.
- Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of associates.
- Complete daily reports and analysis to ensure departmental cohesion and alignment with company procedures.
- Maintain harmony among associates and work with Operations Manager to resolve issues.
- Work closely with Operations Manager, Supervisors, and other internal partners to coordinate workflow and labor management and quickly resolve issues; promptly report any issues to Operations Manager.
- Perform duties of Operations Manager as needed.
- Opening and closing of warehouse when necessary.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Perform a variety of clerical support duties as assigned; type correspondence, memos, and other items; compile data from clearly defined sources and prepare reports; answer telephone, route calls or messages.; Assist Manager by identifying work procedures; prepare work schedules, monitor Time & Attendance, and expedite workflow.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High School diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Excellent computer skills: ability to learn new software quickly.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company.
- Accurate tag input, including tag updates & comments when changes in an order occur.

- May be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures and dusty conditions in the dock environment; must be able to perform essential functions in these conditions.
Incoming / Customer Service functions
- Phone coverage exemplifying a courteous and professional tone with our customers.
Planning the Next Day
- Review the next day’s business on the dispatch grid checking for Specials or Specialized deliveries or pickups.
- Plan and stage routes in the warehouse for the next day.
- Coordinate routes and issues with the City Supervisor and/or San Antonio.
Hours
- Hours may vary but are typically 7am - 4:00pm
Other duties that may occur, as directed by management.
