+ State Employee Tuition Exemption Program covering up to 6 credits of qualifying coursework per quarter at the University of Washington or other participating colleges or universities **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** The University of Washington is seeking a Cytotechnologist II to provide coverage for the established and growing Cytology Laboratory. The Cytotechnologist II will:
+ perform screening of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, reporting of negative gynecological cases, and refer preliminary diagnosed non-negative gynecological and all non-gynecological cases to the pathologist
+ provide work direction to the Cytotechnologist I, cytology laboratory technicians, and other assigned staff as needed
+ perform quality control assessments of cytopreparation and rescreening of negative gynecologic cases
+ assist in fine needle aspiration procedures
+ assist in quality assurance activities and perform other related duties as required
+ maintain daily documentation of the total number of slides examined and total number of hours spent screening at the University of Washington and at any other laboratory, and in accordance with CLIA/CAP regulations **REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS**
+ A Bachelor of Science Degree and graduation from Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Cytotechnology program; American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Registry (BOR) certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT); at least 3 years previous experience as a Cytotechnologist within the preceding 10 years; Certified to perform ThinPrep GYN screening; Successful completion of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Pap Proficiency test within the last year. **ABOUT UW MEDICINE - WHERE YOUR IMPACT GOES FURTHER** UW Medicine is Washington's only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
