Moffitt’s new 10-story hospital will expand state-of-the-art surgical services for the thousands of patients needing highly complex surgeries and related inpatient care each year.
McKinley Hospital features Outpatient surgical and diagnostic imaging programs complementing our current outpatient surgical practice at the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Outpatient Center across the street and our inpatient and clinical operations on the Magnolia campus. Opening the surgical hospital directly impacts Moffitt’s ability to expand services at our Magnolia campus, alleviates space constraints for patient care, and opens up more space for vital cancer research.

Position Highlights:
- Performs screening and interpretation of all cytopathology samples including fine needle aspirations, exfoliative non-gynecologic samples, and gynecologic samples.
- Provides assistance to the physicians during the performance of fine needle aspirations making direct smear preparations and performing an adequacy interpretation if necessary.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has a Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology.
- Has demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of a cytopathology department including the collection, processing, and interpretation of cytopathologic samples.
Responsibilities:
- Screen and interpret all cytopathologic samples excluding intraoperative touch imprint evaluation cases.
- Provide assistance to clinicians/pathologists with the collection of specimens, predominately FNAs.
- Performs the required computer functions relevant to the cytology department such as accessioning and resulting.
- Performs cytologic-histologic correlation of all available cytology samples.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Florida state license in Cytology required.
- ASCP certification preferred.
- 3 years of previous cytology experience preferred.
