POSITION SUMMARY:
In the dance instructor role, you will teach students about dance styles and techniques, and create lesson plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a variety of dance styles and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will be responsible for teaching dance classes to students of various ages and skill levels, choreographing performances, and contributing to the overall growth and development of our dance programs.

PAY RANGE:
$20.00 - $30.00
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lesson Planning: Create detailed lesson plans that align with the studio's curriculum and adapt them to meet the needs and abilities of individual students.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate students' progress, provide constructive feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning and creativity.
- Administrative Tasks: Take attendance, manage class schedules, and communicate with students and parents regarding class updates and upcoming events.
- Professional Development: Stay current with dance trends, techniques, and teaching methods through ongoing professional development and training.
- Studio Events: Participate in studio events, including recitals, showcases, and community outreach programs.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other instructors and studio staff to promote a cohesive and supportive teaching environment.
- In order to enhance the overall operation of the YMCA of Greenwich and to support teamwork, I will accept additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; formal dance training and/or a degree in dance or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience as a dance instructor in [specific dance style(s)]; experience teaching multiple styles is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Creative and innovative approach to teaching and choreography.
- Ability to demonstrate dance techniques and physically participate in classes.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Hours: Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on class schedules and studio needs.
- Environment: Professional dance studio setting with appropriate flooring, mirrors, and sound equipment.

- Salary is competitive dependent upon experience.
