Job Summary and Qualifications
The Data Analyst II will support Clinical Services Group (CSG) leadership, and other HCA Healthcare Service Lines, by providing in-depth reporting and analytics to identify opportunities and inform ongoing clinical or operational initiatives. Responsibilities include technical requirements documentation, data extraction, data modeling, and metric development. The Data Analyst II must be able to take direction for tactically appropriate data and information models, identify opportunities and strategies in reporting data, possess intermediate to advanced SQL query skills, have excellent communication skills [both written and verbal], have relationship building skills, portray a professional presence, and possess a proven track record of delivering high quality reports and deliverables. The Data Analyst must partner with data visualization teams to maintain team standards for report maintenance, support, and access. The Data Analyst must be able to take direction, work independently, and work in a small group collaboratively to deliver high level results within specified time frames. This position requires a collaborative, analytical thinker who is confident interacting with key business stakeholders. It requires an ability to make sense of data, a willingness to become a subject matter expert for interpreting clinical reporting, and a proficient understanding of health care operations. The Data Analyst thrives on a team dedicated to developing and supporting products that promote clinical care excellence at HCA Facilities.
Job Responsibilities
•Functions as a data domain expert for multiple assigned clinical/operational service lines.
•Writes intermediate to advanced SQL to data mine, extract and model data from multiple databases (Teradata, GCP, SQL, etc.).
•Develops actionable reports in reporting/BI Platforms (team standard of PowerBI) that report data narratives and use data visualizations to identify areas of opportunity and help drive clinical quality at scale.
•Determines data quality or completeness; Effectively communicates gaps to clinical or ITG stakeholders.
•Efficiently and effectively aggregate and clean data from multiple sources to prepare data for manipulation, analysis, and visualizations.
•Work to create efficiencies in data reporting and analytics with automation where appropriate. Primary department tools to utilize are R or Python
•Prepares analysis plans and writes detailed specifications based on executive or clinical stakeholder requirements.
•Validate and troubleshoot discrepancies in data by creating and executing SQL queries in Teradata SQL and GCP
•Leads small/mid-scale projects independently with oversight by Manager as needed; spans collaboration with clinical stakeholders to the full product development cycle (data capture to BI integration)
•Develops actionable reports, report narratives and data visualizations that identify areas of opportunity and help drive clinical quality at scale. Primary department platforms are Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, and PowerBI.
•Interprets and presents results in a clear and meaningful way to executive level audiences.
•Perform testing through the creation of documentation of test scripts / results and execution of testing of dashboard products
•Independently and collaboratively performs data analyses that identify areas of opportunity and help drive Care Excellence at scale
•Supports colleagues and stake-holders in data interpretation, opportunity discovery, and outcomes measurement
•Maximizes productivity through good time management, coordination, and communication
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor's Degree Required
•2-5 years as data, business, or financial analyst
•Healthcare Data Analyst experience preferred
•Excellent communication skills; ability to present to executive level audience
•Detail-oriented and strong desire to find solutions to problems
•Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work according to team and company goals
•Intermediate to advanced capabilities in programming and automation software: R (preferred) or Python
