Description:

Performs complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing management or customer requests. Develops programs, methodologies, and files for analyzing and presenting data. Uses and supports database applications and analytical tools. Evaluates data quality, applications, and functions. Produces output and maintains operation. Researches new data sources and analytical tools.

Contributes to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation. Develops awareness of and familiarity with issues and events affecting organization, department, and/or customer. Uses timely and appropriate participation of users/customers in data collection and query systems.: Provides accurate and appropriate interpretation of data, applying knowledge to evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of data. Develops appropriate methodologies for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data products. Develops useful and insightful information from a variety of data sources.

Works with management and/or customers to develop and understand product specifications. Communicates regularly and effectively with team members and management, and communicates results effectively to management and/or customers. Delivers data products in report/presentation format, or verbally, to management and/or customer specifications and timelines. Points out system or process problems when noticed and engages the team in problem solving. Facilitates satisfactory communication and resolution of problems.

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join the Buyer Taxonomy and Site Navigation team to assess the opportunity and measure the impact of projects related to changing the browse navigation experience on eBay. Your focus will be supporting various product launches to measure the impact on customer behavior and SEO (search engine optimization).

In addition to robust statistical knowledge, it is vital to have strong intellectual curiosity, and a passion for achieving practical business impact. Skills in quantitative analysis, problem definition, and an attention to detail are required.

Responsibilities

Work with product partners to find practical solutions to our business problems based on data. This will require an ability to translate problems stated in business terms into quantitative approaches leading to projects starting small and aspiring to grow big if preliminary results are promising

Set up testing (A/B test or pre-post) to measure performance in the best possible way

Analyze large sets of data to understand the impact of product changes on the customer journey and to traffic/revenue goals.

Drive cohort studies and drive analyses to understand customer behavior and find opportunities for improving our product(s)

Transform scientific/data analysis and communicate business performance in a clear and insightful way to the product teams to facilitate timely and informed decision-making

Ensure statistical rigor is applied to all analyses and business recommendations

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Statistics/Mathematics or quantitative field required (or equivalent experience equivalent)

10+ years of experience as a business analyst, data scientist, or related field

Understanding of statistics, experimental design, and causal inference.

Excellent SQL skills as well as experience with common data and statistical toolkits such as R, Python, PySpark etc.

Expertise with business intelligence and/or data visualization tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.

Prior experience in performance measurement, creatively applying regression techniques / modeling, optimization techniques , A/B testing, etc . for business applications

The skills to translate analytical insights into clear recommendations and effectively deliver it to technical and non-technical partners

An ability to spot and pursue opportunities as well as to translate high-level directions into practical projects and lead/drive their completion with minimal supervision.

Excellent written, verbal, and social skills with the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization in a clear, timely and effective manner
