About the role
Within the organization, Opportunity@Work’s Insights team advances a STAR-focused research agenda to both understand how STARs experience the American labor market and to develop actionable, demand-driven insights that unlock more opportunities for STARs to experience economic mobility across various occupations, industries, firm types, and regional contexts. We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our team.

What you'll do
As a Data Analyst on the team, you will be using data and data visualizations to help us tell the story of STARs in the US labor market and encourage action from employers to increase skills-based hiring and remove degree requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Visualization (75%)
- Using statistical programming tools like R, Stata, or Python to read in, merge, and manipulate datasets
- Conducting exploratory analyses by writing readable and reproducible code that documents data analysis decisions
- Creating beautiful, replicable, and insight-driving data visualizations using data visualization packages or libraries like ggplot2 in R or plotly or seaborn in Python
- Carrying out research, including gathering qualitative and quantitative data, conducting analyses to surface actionable insights and narratives
Narrative and Visual Storytelling (15%)
- Generate first drafts of client-ready outputs (such as data files, decks, and data visualizations)
- Contribute to how conclusions and data insights are presented to clients, ensuring that conclusions are clear and relevant
Stakeholder & Project Management (10%)
- Maintaining project timelines and coordinating with cross-functional teams
- Collaborating with other data analysts on methods

Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- This role is open to individuals skilled through alternative routes.
- Experience manipulating, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis/data management tools such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, or STATA.
- Experience creating data visualizations in Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, R, Python, or other tools.
- Experience using quantitative data to tell a story that moves audiences towards action and decision-making

The pay range for this role is:
72,000 - 83,500 USD per year(Remote - United States)
