About the Job
The Swift Group is looking for a Data Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and managing data and metadata policies and procedures, overseeing database design and development, and ensuring integration with corporate data standards. This role involves staying updated with industry trends, providing technical recommendations, and offering strategic guidance in database management. This position is located in McLean, VA and requires the candidate to be onsite between the hours of 1000-1600.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data and metadata policies and procedures to support structural design and development.
- Build, maintain, and leverage data models in alignment with corporate data standards.
- Monitor industry trends and advancements in database technology and tools.
- Oversee the design, evaluation, selection, implementation, and support of major databases and metadata structures.
- Review and assess database performance, risk, and financial feasibility studies.
- Provide technical direction for the maintenance of existing databases supporting evolving applications and business processes.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of technical proposals and alternatives to optimize database performance.
- Offer strategic advice and guidance on the creation and implementation of new data standards and databases.
- Provide technical oversight for integrating new technology or mission capabilities into existing metadata and data standards.
- Review technical proposals for changes or upgrades to existing databases.
- Lead strategic planning and oversight of data models and database structural design and development.
- Develop methods to systematically eliminate data incompatibilities among systems.
- Diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex issues related to data infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:
- 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in data architecture.
- In-depth understanding of database structure principles.
- Proficiency in data modeling and design, including SQL development and database administration.
- Experience in data visualization, migration, and modeling.
- Expertise in relational database management systems (DBMS).
- Experience with DBMS software, including SQL Server.
- Knowledge of database and cloud computing design, architectures, and data lakes.
- Experience in configuring and administering enterprise-level data stores, ETL and ELT methods, and batch and streaming data transport.
- Ability to gather and analyze system requirements.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Proficiency in programming languages Java and Python.
- Experience with Linux, Unix, Solaris, and Windows.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and JIRA.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment; anticipate and manage changes or problems; assess impacts and recommend solutions.
- Experience in systems development, including lifecycle management, project management approaches, and design/testing techniques.
- BA/BS Degree or five years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with specific networks, systems, and services relevant to the organization.
- Experience delivering solutions using AWS cloud services.
- Knowledge of AWS Cloud storage technologies, including RDS, DynamoDB, and S3.
- Experience with various database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres.
- Specific experience with Oracle Databases.
- Experience in a full-stack environment.
- Experience building automation tools such as Gradle and Maven.
- Experience developing system prototypes and proofs of concept.
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization processes specific to the organization.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level production systems.
- Ability to brief technical topics to a non-technical audience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- AWS Certification or other relevant certifications.
- MA/MS Degree.

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
