Data Center Technician at TEKsystems

We are currently seeking Datacenter Technicians in Boydton, VA in support of the company’s end customers as they deploy and maintain servers. The ideal candidate for this role balances technical skills, attention-to-detail, customer focus while following and establishing processes. Our Datacenter Technicians represent our company in front of our customers every day.  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Respond to service tickets for servers in customer datacenters in a timely manner

• Keep parts lockers up to date and properly stocked at all times

• Troubleshoot and triage server failures to determine the most efficient path to getting a server back online for the customer

• Track server fleet health and validate that we are always exceeding customer requirements for total servers online

• Provide consistent, detailed feedback to our internal engineering team on failures, serviceability of servers, and integration with the datacenter

• Apply firmware and BIOS updates as needed using company engineering-approved tools

• Comply with all datacenter safety, security, and operational protocols at all times

JOB REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to identify hardware failures and work within the limits of a defined process to get hardware running or replace entire servers 

• Ability to regularly lift and move server systems that weigh up to 70lbs

• Fanatic attention to detail. Accuracy in inventory, trouble tickets, asset tag updates, wiring plans, etc. is essential to the customer and is critical to this role

• Must be able and willing to travel

• Linux terminal basic experience

• Windows CMD basic experience.
