At Clean Harbors, we are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Data Management Governance Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role will play a crucial role in managing and protecting an organization’s data, ensuring compliance with regulations, and helping the organization achieve its data-related goals. They need to have a strong understanding of data governance and data management concepts and best practices. They also need to have experience with Microsoft Purview or similar product and be able to configure and maintain it in large-scale enterprise environments.
This role is pivotal in developing strategies that will transform our approach to data, particularly in the realm of Cloud data transformation. The goal is to optimize data flow and quality, thereby improving data accuracy, viability, and value. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of our data-driven journey, shaping the way we work with data.
Data Governance and Protection:
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Purview solutions, aligning with organizational goals and best practices.
- Utilize Microsoft Purview to gain visibility into data across the organization, safeguard and manage sensitive data across its lifecycle, and govern data in comprehensive ways.
- Utilize Microsoft Purview to ensure data classification/metadata/lineage for all across onprem and Cloud environments is supported.
- Utilize other technologies for data governance on Unstructured data like Congruity360 etc.
- Contribute to the development of data governance policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring compliance and data integrity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data management requirements and establish effective controls, practices, and procedures.
- Provide strategic guidance and hands-on expertise to cross-functional teams.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and provide recommendations to enhance data governance and data management initiatives.
Metadata Management
- Responsible for designing and implementing metadata standards, models, and processes for the organization.
- Ensure that the metadata is accurately captured, and that it is organized in a way that makes it easily accessible and understandable for users.
- Create, maintain, update and police metadata.
- Provide professional support for a corporate metadata environment.
- Implement data lineage strategy consistently across all information domains.
- Work closely with data stewards to identify and document business and technical metadata for all critical data elements for covered information domains.
- Work closely with IT to update data models.
- Document source to target data mapping, transformations, and controls.
- Help create procedures and workflows to support metadata management and usage.
- Ensure quality and integrity of metadata.
- Generate, create, improve, analyst and use standard system reports to support high data quality.
- Work with colleagues across the organization to identify best practices and process improvements in expansive metadata areas.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of metadata strategy and standards.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to design and implement metadata usage and reporting solutions.
- Support metadata distribution and usage across the enterprise.
Risk and Compliance Management:
- Utilize Microsoft Purview's risk and compliance solutions to help the organization minimize compliance risks and meet regulatory requirements.
Data Security:
- Leverage Purview's robust and coordinated set of data security solutions to discover and protect sensitive information.
Data Governance:
- Utilize Purview's unified data governance solutions to manage data services across on-premises, multi-cloud, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) environments.
Data Integration:
- Utilize Purview's solutions to support AI and Data Analytics groups for building their solutions.
Training and Support:
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate both technical and non-technical users on Microsoft Purview functionality and best practices.
Strategy Alignment:
- Align the overarching data strategy with the organization's goals and ensure ongoing monitoring and adaptation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data governance and metadata management.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field is required.
- 6+ years working in the IT industry with 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Purview ideally.
- Should possess a strong understanding of data governance, and data management concepts and best practices. Additional experience in other industry specific products like Collibra, Varonis, Atlan, Alation, Egnyte and other Data management/Governance/Security products would be beneficial.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and configuring Microsoft Purview in large-scale enterprise environments.
- In-depth understanding of data management principles and best practices, including data quality, data lineage, and data classification.
- Experience in Information Security governance, risk and compliance.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and its suite of data tools is crucial.
- Experience with SQL, Oracle, NoSQL databases and Data Fabric architectures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to translate complex findings into a compelling narrative for non-technical stakeholders.
