Responsibilities & Qualifications:Responsible for defining, maintaining and monitoring of data quality across the organization. Determines the relevant dimensions of data quality for the organization, with the focus being on enterprise level data sources and critical data elements (CDEs). Leads cross-departmental discussions with business Data Owners and Data Stewards to determine data definitions, relationships and hierarchies. Establish data quality controls and measures, leveraging approved tools to evaluate and monitor data quality, as well as to raise, track and execute on data quality issues. Develops a framework for measuring and reporting on data quality. Directs Data Quality Specialists in daily tasks to address data quality issues. Engages with data stewards to create necessary corrective plans to improve data quality at an individual data element level. Work with project teams to profile and baseline data quality when new sources of data are created. Communicates with Data Owners concerning overall data quality themes and solicits input from them on corrective measures. Oversee the performance management, career development, and training of team members within the Data Quality team.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- 7 years of experience with Data Analytics, Data Quality and/or Meta-Data Management, preferably 4 years in the insurance industry
- 3 years of leadership experience
- Advanced knowledge of data profiling techniques
- Thorough understanding of insurance metrics
- Ability to manage large complex projects or processes independently.
- Knowledge of data tools and manipulation techniques such as MS Excel, Business Objects, Power BI, SQL, SAS, ThoughtSpot and Snowflake.
- Experience with Data Governance and Data Quality technology (Alation, Collibra, Unity Catalog, etc.)
- Competence with leading cross-departmental teams
- Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Analytical skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in programming languages, including Structured Query Language (SQL), Power BIand JavaScript and other data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of best practices in data analysis
- Interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, information management, or similar fields.
