Summary
The Medicare Advantage Data Science team’s mission is to provide data science and analytical support to our partners, promote sustained revenue growth and management, and improve customer value and affordability for Cigna Medicare. We accomplish this through strategic actionable insights, cross-departmental collaboration with our Cigna matrix partners.
This role will provide Medicare Advantage clinical and member experience expertise, leading applied machine learning, predictive modeling, and other data science projects that drive clinical and member experience initiatives. A variety of internal and external data sources will be used to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our data science to improve clinical outcomes, customer experience, and business growth and retention.
The candidate selected for this role will join a collaborative, cross-functional team of data scientists to solve challenging, open-ended problems and will effectively translate results and communicate recommendations to a variety of stakeholders, including the Medicare Advantage Senior Leadership team. This individual will collaborate with matrixed teams, applying innovative data science techniques to dig deep and surface new insights. With guidance from subject matter experts across the enterprise, they will advance the application of data science technology in the business.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, test, document, productionalize, and/or champion enterprise model lifecycle assets that enable consistency, reproducibility, and model governance
+ In collaboration with the manager consult with business stakeholders - spanning growth and multichannel marketing campaigns and member personalization and engagement initiatives - to define and prioritize key strategic projects
+ Independently partner with cross-functional teams to leverage insights generated from rigorous measurement frameworks to optimize strategies and enhance member experience and value
+ Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with technical matrix partners (e.g., Data Engineering)
+ Mentor and champion junior Data Science team members via established development programs and on a project-by-project basis
+ Ensure quality and integrity of data collected, analyses performed, and presentation to our matrix partners
+ Act as subject matter expert (SME) in common and trending Data Science methods
Qualifications
+ 8+ years' practical experience with real world health care (e.g., claims, EHR) and/or customer intelligence data (third-party data strategy) within a complex business environment
+ Experience or interest in CMS regulatory policies impacting Medicare Advantage plans related to marketing, enrollment/member experience highly desired
+ Thorough understanding of ML lifecycle, including necessary tradeoffs and associated risks
+ Strong proficiency in ML, statistics, python/pyspark, SQL, version control (e.g., Git)
+ Ability to promote best coding practices, championing a culture of documentation/logging
+ Ability to work with business partners in consultative manner
+ Demonstrated strong communication skills (e.g. experience translating complex analyses into easy-to-follow slides/materials)
+ Masters or PhD preferred in related field (mathematics, statistics, data science, epidemiology, biostatistics) highly desired
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 121,400 - 202,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
