We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to partner with Figma’s AI Experiences Team. The team is responsible for building and monetizing awesome products/features that are powered by AI. In this role, you will play a key role in helping define Figma’s AI strategy. The ideal candidate is someone who has a strong track record of using data to influence product teams and help them achieve their goals, is passionate about driving product growth with the power of AI,  and enjoys creative problem solving in a nascent problem area.

What Youll Be Doing:

• Design and surface metrics to guide decision making related to AI at Figma

• Develop best practices and frameworks around measuring impact for AI features

• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering throughout the lifecycle of AI models from data collection to model deployment 

• Drive democratization of data through creation of new datasets and tooling

• Generate ideas to creatively leverage data for shaping future product roadmaps

• Establish partnerships with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Research, Design, Sales, and Marketing

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• 5+ years relevant work experience in Analytics, Data Science or Software Engineering

• Proven track record providing thought leadership to your organization across multiple teams or large surface area

• 1+ years experience developing classical ML models

• Fluency in SQL

• Proficient programming skills in Python, R, or a similar scripting language

• Experience in distributed data processing systems and framework (Hive, Redshift, Presto, Snowflake, Spark, etc)

• Firm knowledge around statistical methods and experiment design

• Excellent technical communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to achieve successful outcomes with partners ranging from interns to executives

• A growth mindset and experience investing in the learning, development, belonging, and impact of your peers

While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

• Experience working with Gen-AI/LLM-powered products is a plus

Pay Transparency Disclosure

If based in Figma’s San Francisco or New York hub offices, this role has the annual base salary range stated below.  

Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, the pay range is localized according to employee work location by a factor of between 80% and 100% of range. Please discuss your specific work location with your recruiter for more information.

Annual Base Salary Range (SF/NY Hub):

$149,000 - $317,000 USD
