About the Job
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Data Scientist to provide advanced data analytics to USAMMA's executive team. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage complex tasks efficiently. The Data Scientist will design, develop, and implement data models, glean insights from large datasets, and support process improvement efforts through sophisticated data analytics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and execute quantitative and qualitative studies to enhance the performance of medical industrial base operations, wholesale supply, and internal operational processes.
- Derive insights from “big data,” applying data cleansing, machine learning, and cognitive automation.
- Develop and implement models for industrial base operations supporting large-scale combat operations and humanitarian response.
- Support USAMMA Directorates by executing studies on operational effectiveness and providing analytical guidance.
- Coordinate and guide tasks with project teams, incorporating efforts from PM analysts and other supporting entities.
- Provide modeling expertise to support PSMIPT medical device lifecycle cost estimates and recommend changes as necessary.
- Collaborate in continuous process improvement efforts by offering data modeling expertise across Directorates.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
- Proficient in developing analytic scripts and workflows, with experience in data management best practices, including GitHub for version control.
- Strong knowledge of relational datasets, data normalization, and data modeling, with the ability to address inconsistencies in data using best practices.
- Expertise in quantitative regression analysis, including study design, proxy variable identification, data validation, and interpretation of results.
- Skilled in qualitative case study analysis, particularly in selecting comparison cases and identifying biases.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years of experience as a Data Scientist.
- Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Analytics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, SAP, and Army Vantage (Palantir), with experience using data wrangling packages (e.g., dplyr, data.table, pandas).
- Active SECRET clearance required.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship, immediate or future.
- A valid US driver's License with a good driving record is required.
- Experience in medical or aviation manufacturing or industrial base analytics is preferred.
- Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Preferred Skills and Certificates
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply advanced statistical methods.
- Background in manufacturing, supply chain, or similar data analysis fields.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Salary
The salary range is $130,000 annually - $152,000 annually.
Contract Length
Contract work is secured through May 15, 2025 with options for the government to extend.
Work Environment
The Data Scientist role may require travel (up to 10%) for offsite assessments and engagements with higher headquarters. The role operates in a research or data analysis environment, requiring collaboration with various departments to provide data-driven insights.
