About the Job
Nebraska Wesleyan University seeks applications for a part-time Data Specialist/Report Writer. The position is responsible for using data systems to provide research support and data comparison including critical biographic and personal data relevant to constituent records. The incumbent will collect, maintain, and prepare standard and specialized data reports for the Advancement team and President's Office.
The position will develop and use customized reports and queries from relational databases to extract and compile data using Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics 365 systems. The reports generated provide support for institutional and departmental strategic planning, donor portfolio files, and data comparison. The successful candidate will possess a high level of confidentiality, initiative, self-motivation, and a proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Excel reporting.

Responsibilities:
- Maintains constituent records and files, completes data requests and runs scheduled reports
- Develops queries, reviews, cleans, and validates data sets from internal and external sources as requested
- Effectively organizes, summarizes, and communicates data results in tables, charts, lists, and other requested formats
- Works collaboratively with the Advancement Services Manager, as well as Advancement and University Staff, on accurately maintaining, monitoring, and updating constituent records ensuring consistency, integrity, and confidentiality of constituent data
- Complies with CASE, IRS, and office standards, policies, and procedures
- Coordinates scheduled vendor data update processes
- Adheres to established audit controls, security measures, and confidentiality/privacy standards
- Works with Advancement Services team members to ensure quarterly goals are achieved in a timely manner
- Works with supervisor to determine scope, implementation, and upkeep of data tracking needs
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Data Management, Information Technology, or related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute
- 3+ years of experience in a data reporting or data specialist role
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365, particularly in the Excel and Access programs
- Experience in extracting and/or preparing data from relational database systems
- Demonstrates critical thinking, time management, and ability to troubleshoot complex issues with data
- Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with documenting processes is a plus
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain and be responsible for confidential information
Preference will be given for:
- Experience in the non-profit or educational sector, especially related to gift entry or data specialization
- Experience with Ellucian CRM Advance or other relational database systems used in Advancement
- Proficiency in Excel, Access, or other reporting software
