We’re looking for a Data Visualization Specialist (aka The Visual Insight Creator) to design and deliver interactive dashboards and visual reports that empower stakeholders and enhance decision-making.
As a Data Visualization Specialist at our client, you’ll collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business leaders to develop data visualizations that reveal insights and support data-driven strategies. Your expertise in design and data storytelling will play a key role in making complex data accessible and engaging for all users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create Interactive Dashboards and Reports:
- Design and develop visually engaging dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. You’ll ensure that visualizations are clear, actionable, and tailored to the needs of various stakeholders.
- Translate Data into Visual Narratives:
- Work closely with data analysts and business teams to translate complex data into clear, impactful visuals. You’ll turn insights into visual stories that help drive understanding and strategic decisions.
- Ensure Data Accuracy and Consistency:
- Validate data sources and maintain data quality standards to ensure that all visualizations accurately reflect the underlying data. You’ll establish checks to catch inconsistencies or inaccuracies.
- Collaborate on Data Visualization Standards:
- Work with design and data teams to develop and enforce data visualization best practices. You’ll create style guides, templates, and frameworks to maintain a consistent look and feel across visualizations.
- Optimize for User Experience:
- Design visualizations with the end-user in mind, ensuring accessibility, interactivity, and ease of use. You’ll gather feedback from users and continuously improve dashboards to enhance user experience.
- Provide Training and Support for Stakeholders:
- Educate and support teams in using dashboards and interpreting visualizations. You’ll develop training materials and conduct workshops to promote data literacy across the organization.
- Stay Updated on Visualization Trends and Tools:
- Keep current with new data visualization techniques, tools, and best practices. You’ll bring innovative ideas and tools that enhance visualization capabilities and align with industry trends.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Data Visualization Expertise: Proficiency with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. You can create dynamic, interactive visualizations that engage users and convey insights.
- Design and Storytelling Skills: Ability to transform data into clear, compelling visual stories. You have a strong eye for design and understand how to present data in a way that is intuitive and impactful.
- Data Analysis and SQL Skills: Knowledge of data analysis techniques and proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation. Familiarity with data preparation tools is a plus.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and presenting data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented approach to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality in all visual outputs.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Graphic Design, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience in data visualization or analytics may be considered.
- Certifications in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau Specialist, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst) are beneficial.
Experience Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in data visualization or business intelligence, with a proven track record of creating impactful dashboards and reports.
- Experience working with large datasets from various sources and managing data for visualization purposes.
- Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Illustrator or Figma is a plus.
