- Ensuring the availability, performance, security, and integrity of databases, including
- Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB
- Database Administration: Manage and administer the AWS-based databases,
- including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and
- MongoDB, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune the performance of databases to
- maintain optimal efficiency and responsiveness, addressing performance bottlenecks
- proactively.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and oversee database backup and recovery
- strategies, ensuring data is protected and can be restored as needed.
- Database Security: Implement and enforce security measures, access controls, and
- encryption protocols to protect sensitive data stored in the databases.
- Database Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades and patching,
- staying current with the latest releases and security fixes.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the databases,
- including failover and replication mechanisms.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve database-related issues,
- working closely with development teams and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and
- resolve problems.
- Data Migration: Assist with database migration efforts, ensuring smooth data transfer
- and minimal downtime during migrations.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations,
- procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Automation: Identify opportunities for automation in database administration tasks
- and develop scripts or tools to streamline repetitive processes.
- Cloud Best Practices: Stay informed about AWS cloud best practices and
- recommendations, implementing these practices in database management.
- Compliance and Auditing: Ensure that databases adhere to regulatory compliance
- standards and participate in audits as needed.
Education Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer
- Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or
- technical discipline.
General Experience
- At least ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator, managing
- diverse databases in an AWS cloud environment.
- Expertise in administering Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL
- Server, and MongoDB databases.
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and
- security best practices.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services, IAM roles, and security groups for database
- administration.
- Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address database-related
- issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with
- cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified
- Solutions Architect, are advantageous.
