HJF is seeking a Database Administrator that will perform as a data control specialist and support research projects for the Defense & Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Medicine (DVCIPM). This position is based in Bethesda, Maryland with study locations at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) and other military treatment facilities.
Note: This position requires U.S. Citizenship.

Responsibilities:- Responsible for the daily monitoring and tracking of study participants' hospital appointments in the EHR and schedule them on the study site’s Google calendar.
- Responsible for abstracting and entering demographic, treatment, outcomes, and clinical assessment data into the electronic case report form (eCRF), ensuring the data is timely, complete, consistent, and accurate.
- Offer technical support to DVCIPM team members and maintain data integrity through regular quality assurance checks. This involves verifying the accuracy of REDCap data entries in the eCRF against source documents.
- May assist with the design, development, implementation, and administration of data collection solutions through the REDCap electronic data capture system. Devises logical procedures, prepares flowcharts, and performs coding, testing, and debugging for REDCap projects.
- Performs data entry, analyzes error reports, corrects data entry errors, and submits data. Maintains detailed records and ensures appropriate communication with the clinical research team.
- Responsible for capturing and managing data, to include managing data pulls, organizing and managing data sets and requests, and working with data analysts and statisticians.
- Offers feedback to improve data collection processes and enhance quality control. Conducts regular self-audits on abstracted data prior to submission for review.
- Responsible for communicating effectively and coordinating with external clients, such as the Departments of Information Technology (IT) or other military or government communities, and the Henry M Jackson Foundation.

- Works collectively with the scientists, regulatory affairs and data manager to help establish policies and procedures for the information management program to include information release, confidentiality, information security, storage/retrieval, record retention, and regulatory compliance.
- Provides education and training to end users in areas relevant to information management policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Database knowledge.
- Experience with military populations preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and a practical knowledge of medical procedures and diagnoses.
- Understands, develops, and executes all aspects of clinical trial Data Management (e.g., CRF design, data entry instructions, data management and QA plans, data status tracking, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple, highly complex and/or large studies concurrently.
- Expert knowledge of good data management practices.
- Advanced knowledge of at least one clinical data management system (e.g., REDCap, OpenClinica, Medidata Rave, Oracle InForm, Oracle Clinical).
- Literate in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Composite Health Care Software System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), the Clinical Information System (CIS), Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV) and MHS Genesis.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a T3 Secret Clearance.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $73,800 to $85,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
