Dean/Program Director, Master of Public Health - Online - American Career College

SUMMARY:

The Program Dean, Public Health, provides leadership, student-centric strategic and operational direction, and leadership of program accreditation. Works closely with online distance education leadership, the other online program dean/directors, online staff, and full and part-time faculty to collaboratively achieve departmental and university outcomes.  Responsible for programmatic success and compliance with all regulatory bodies.  Oversees academic outcomes as well as student progression and success.  Leads the coordination, development, and revision of curriculum and works closely with vendors to create successful learning outcomes in the online classroom. Provides professional leadership and support for faculty and staff, serves as a mentor, and creates an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and accountability.

EDUCATION:

• PhD in Public Health Required

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred
• Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) preferred

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum five years administrative experience including program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting.
• Minimum of six years in an appropriate profession within the field of Public Health.
• At least three years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary level.
• Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Title IV, WASC, CEPH and other accreditation standards. 
• Experience teaching and leading in higher education.
• Experience in creating and growing public health programs.  
• Relevant experience in a management/leadership administrative role.
• Understanding of higher education issues and accreditation standards.
• Understanding of online and distance education modalities at the college level.  
• High level digital literacy skills. Microsoft Office Suite, ability to navigate internal data systems like Power BI and Salesforce, Canvas Online Learning Management System, ADP, Oracle (non-exhaustive list).
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and build positive outcomes from higher-level strategy.
• Demonstrated skills in assessing student learning.
