Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled DevSecOps Engineer to spearhead a pivotal cloud migration project from on-premise systems to the AWS GovCloud environment for a high-profile federal defense client. The DevSecOps Engineer will integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle, ensuring that applications are secure and compliant. This role involves overseeing the transition of applications built in Java and .NET, utilizing GitLab as the source code repository. This role includes automating security processes and collaborating with development and operations teams. The successful candidate will be instrumental in deploying DevSecOps methodologies, securing compliance with federal standards, and developing specialized DevOps tools for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
Responsibilities
- Migration Strategy Development and Implementation: Architect comprehensive migration plans to securely transfer existing on-prem applications to AWS GovCloud, ensuring alignment with federal compliance standards.
- DevSecOps Process Integration: Lead the integration of DevSecOps practices throughout the migration process. Leverage GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Security Compliance and Optimization: Enforce stringent security protocols, conduct regular security audits, and ensure all processes meet federal regulations such as FedRAMP. Optimize applications and infrastructure for high availability, security, and performance in the cloud.
- Tool Development for COTS Products: Design and develop DevOps tools that are tailored for managing and integrating COTS products within the AWS environment. This includes custom automation scripts and modules to enhance operational efficiency and system resilience.
- Cross-functional Team Leadership: Collaborate with IT architects, project managers, and software developers to ensure a smooth and secure transition. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by incorporating feedback and iterative learning into the project lifecycle.
- Documentation and Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, configurations, and compliance measures. Regularly update stakeholders and senior management on project status and milestones.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 8 years in cloud engineering with a minimum of 5 years in a DevSecOps role.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Java and .NET, with significant experience using AWS services, particularly in AWS GovCloud. Proficient in using GitLab for source control and CI/CD integrations.
- Security and Compliance Expertise: Demonstrated experience with federal security standards such as FedRAMP and FISMA.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: Proven ability to lead technical teams and communicate complex concepts effectively to a range of audiences.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer preferred.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other containerization and orchestration technologies.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Previous work experience in the defense or government sector, particularly with secure and sensitive projects.
Education
Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Clearance Requirements
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $105,600,000 - $132,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
