South-Tek Systems is searching for an experienced Defense Sales Business Development Representative to join our team in Wilmington, NC!
South-Tek Systems is a leading manufacturer of Mission Critical nitrogen generation systems for industrial process, commercial, and military applications. South-Tek’s innovative products and systems deliver Expertise, Control and Performance for our customers, enabling them to generate nitrogen on-premise, reducing costs while ensuring reliability and safety. We are currently seeking an experienced Defense Sales Business Development Representative to drive new revenue and increase our market share within U.S. military markets. In this role, your main responsibility will be generating new revenue, creating product demand and building essential buying relationships with military and civilian personnel, understanding procurement processes, and promoting the benefits of how South-Tek’s nitrogen generation systems assist in accomplishing their mission.

- The position offers a competitive base salary starting at $85,000, with the potential to earn $130,000 or more upon achieving all target compensation goals.

Job Responsibilities:
As a Defense Sales Business Development Representative, you will be responsible for promoting and selling our products to U.S. military customers and subcontractors. This role requires a strategic approach, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of military procurement processes. The ideal candidate will be adept at building rapport with military personnel, identifying opportunities, and navigating the unique requirements of military bases.
- Conduct thorough research on military organizations, their missions, and procurement processes.
- Identify and analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and potential areas for business growth.
- Establish and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers within military branches and units.
- Understand the specific needs, challenges, and objectives of military clients to provide tailored solutions.
- Develop a deep understanding of the technical aspects and capabilities of the products and services offered, including PM and service support for products.
- Effectively communicate product features, benefits, and value propositions to military clients through presentations and demonstrations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling proposals and presentations aligned with military requirements.
- Explore opportunities to expand product offerings within existing military bases.
- Explore and establish relationships with new military clients to broaden the company's footprint in the military sector.
- Monitor sales and facilitate sales growth of existing Distributors, with training, product knowledge and other support.
- Work closely with internal teams, including product development, marketing, service, and operations, to ensure alignment with military client needs and expectations.
- Stay informed about and ensure adherence to military procurement regulations, compliance standards, and documentation requirements.
- Provide regular reports on sales activities, market trends, and opportunities within the military base sector.
- Analyze sales performance and propose strategies for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of successful sales experience particularly in B2G (Business-to-Government) or military sales environment.
- Familiarity with U.S. military structures, procurement processes, and compliance regulations.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, relationship and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Military maintenance or procurement experience preferred.
