- Analyze and assess data, problems, and issues and their impact on programs within the Department of Correction and successful outcomes.
- Define and evaluate alternative uses of resources, viable options/approaches and anticipated costs and benefits, consequences and outcomes using present and projected information.
- Formulate plans and policies to meet the needs of the Department of Correction.
- Involve and educate Department of Correction employees, special interest groups, and the public via variety of forums, e.g., seminars, workshops, conferences, newsletters, assessments, and analytical reports.
- Coordinate planning activities and policies across state, regional, county and local levels; integrate with other entities outside the state.
- Provide technical assistance, training and education for understanding and managing change.
- Design and manage the planning process.
- Systematically evaluate the impact of plan implementation and incorporate findings with the ongoing planning process.
- Three years of experience in criminal justice or correctional administration which includes overseeing and directing the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services; establishing program objectives; planning short- and long-range program goals; developing and implementing policies and procedures and ensuring compliance and funding requirements. Provides advice to other agency organizational units through consultation.
- Three years of experience in operations management which includes planning, directing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating operations.
- One year of experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
- One year experience in budget administration which includes managing, developing, analyzing and implementing budgets; developing strategic plans and establishing internal control.
- One year experience in serving as a subject matter expert in project management such as planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating projects to ensure objectives are met.
