Summary StatementWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Technologist to maintain, configure, and manage our organization's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our systems, servers, and networks. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues, as well as implementing upgrades and patches to ensure systems remain secure and efficient. Network Technologist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support both day-to-day operations and long-term IT goals.
Preferred Qualification• CompTIA \ CCNA certifications preferred with desire to continue and expand education.
• 6 years of experience working in the IT field in a capacity relating to System Administration and Networking.
• Experience with Active Directory and managing access across a complex network.
• Extensive experience using network monitoring tools to assess abnormal network activity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to quickly and succinctly describe issues, current status, plans for resolution, and expected timelines.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives and resources.
Essential Functions• Installing, Configuring, and Maintaining: Install, configure, and maintain systems, servers, networks, and computer hardware. Experience with SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) is preferred for efficient deployment and management.
• Network Printers:Manage print servers and ensure proper configuration and performance of network printers.
• Managing Accounts and Access:Administer user accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment. Active Directory experience is preferred for efficient identity and access management.
• Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve technical issues, including hardware/software interface problems, system malfunctions, and virtualization issues.
• Monitoring:Monitor system activity, server performance, and storage area network (SAN) performance. Experience with DELL Unity, SolarWinds, and VMware is preferred to ensure optimal system performance and availability.
• Maintaining Security:Ensure systems comply with baseline security standards, regularly apply security patches, and maintain adherence to minimum-security protocols.
• Backing Up Systems:Perform regular backups of systems, servers, virtual machines, and critical data. Experience with Commvault or similar backup solutions is preferred for robust data protection.
• Managing Applications:Oversee software updates, maintain application systems, and ensure services running on servers remain functional and up-to-date.
• Documenting:Create and maintain clear and concise documentation, including standard operating procedures, configurations, and records of work performed to ensure transparency and operational continuity.
Job Requirements• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent certifications and work experience in lieu of a degree.
• A minimum of two years of experience in the planning, design, and implementation of data networks for telecommunication purposes, including bandwidth management,
multi-protocol configurations, transmission lines, interface and multiplexing equipment, port connections, control packets, and associated hardware.
• Proficient in developing strategic business plans for the expansion and installation of data networks and telecommunications infrastructure, including conducting feasibility studies, assessing compatibility, and evaluating cost-effectiveness.
