SUMMARY
This position provides leadership, information and support to the drivers and members of the Regional Delivery Department, located in Portland CT. The Fuel Delivery Manager is responsible for the safe and productive delivery of fuel products to our residential and commercial customers while adhering to company policy and D.O.T. compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide supervision and oversight of the Regional Delivery Department.
- Develop a plan and execute that plan for seamless operations between November and April (our busiest season where we may run full operations, including nights and weekends).
- Professionally communicate with drivers and staff respectfully and timely to achieve productivity and safety goals.
- Coordinate with fleet maintenance personnel and drivers to maintain clean and safe vehicles while following all operational procedures and DOT regulations.
- Ensure driver DOT compliance with special emphasis on roadside inspections, pre and post trip vehicle inspections, hours of service and drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Oversee fuel loading, product transfer and customer fueling procedures.
- Understand and implement the SPCC plan and protocol, Transportation Security Plan, Driver Operations Procedures, as well as other training requirements outlined in the HOP compliance manual.
- Demonstrate and develop knowledge of the industry, customer base, geography and driver needs.
- Understand budgeting, profit and loss statements, as well as, have a strong understanding of basic computer operation including use of Excel.
- Effectively manage both union and non-union employees.
SUPERVOSRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervise drivers and office staff in the Delivery Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; training on pre and post trip operations, training, oversight of dispatchers, appraising performance of clerical staff; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems for both union and non-union direct reports.
TERRITORY/TRAVEL
Responsible for delivery activities in MA, RI and CT. Approximately 25% travel between regional branches located in greater Boston, Cape Cod, Bridgeport & Portland CT.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Salary info:
$38.46 - $43.27 / hr
