Director, of Dental Hygiene Program– Fort Myers, Florida

The Director of the Dental Hygiene Program (DHY) is responsible for managing the overall planning, development, and implementation of the curriculum for the CODA-accredited DHY program, including outcomes, completion, pass rates, and placement, as well as implementation of accreditation standards and oversight of DHY program catalog policy
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, orient, and train supervising faculty members for the department.
- Assist with ongoing review and development of curriculum in the department.
- Observe and provide coaching for instructors on predetermined schedules
- Ensure that student evaluations of faculty are completed and reviewed with instructors.
- Assure correct scheduling and registration of students each period.
- Selection of new students as a mandatory member of the Admissions Committee.
- Budgeting to ensure allocations support the needs of the program.
- Assist with student orientations.
- Ensure that a syllabus is formatted and prepared for each course offered.
- Assist with and make recommendations for textbook evaluations for each course.
- Assist the Academic Dean with catalog review.
- Conduct and document regular department meetings.
- Participate in school and/or Academic Affairs meetings as required.
- Participate in advisory committee meetings.
- Participate in self-studies for various accrediting agencies.
- Assist in maintaining department equipment in proper working order.
- Oversee compliance and efficient functioning of the clinic.
- Other duties as assigned by the Campus Director or Academic Dean.
- Coordinate with the Graduate Services Director on job openings, potential candidates, and placement updates.
- Advise students on academic progress from enrollment to graduation.
- Other duties as assigned by the Campus Director or Academic Dean.
- Substitute instruction as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
·Master’s Degree required. Must be a Dental Hygienist who graduated from a CODA-accredited program.
·Florida license to practice dental hygiene, local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide.
·Administration/management experience required.
·Didactic and/or clinical teaching experience preferred.
·Ability to meet faculty requirements as outlined in the standards and required elements for CODA
