Dental Hygienist - Kalihi Palama Health Center

Primary Purpose:

Perform a variety of dental hygiene duties to promote quality dental care.

Essential Duties:

Clinical Services:

o Perform all phases of Dental Hygiene with accordance to the State board.

o Counsel with patients regarding, conditions treatment and maintenance.

o Educate patients in oral hygiene.

o Promote preventive recall

o Take radiographs (conventional and digital)

o Facilitate referrals to specialists

o Apply fissure sealants

o Document all oral conditions

o Monitor periodontal condition on a regular basis (probing depths, etc.)

o Develop tentative treatment plan for dentist to review

o Follows OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control

* Follow templates and document all procedures and conditions in Dentrix

* Participate in peer review, chart audit and case presentation

Regular and reliable attendance is required

Other Duties:

Perform other related duties as assigned

• Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:

Current Hawaii Dental Hygiene License or Community Service Dental Hygiene License required

CPR certification required

Fluent in Chinese language preferred

Education:

Diploma from a U. S. accredited Dental Hygiene school required

Experience:

1 year of experience in public health setting (in any capacity) preferred
