Job Summary:
The Lab Manager oversees the daily operations of the dental laboratory, ensuring high-quality production of dental prosthetics and appliances. This role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with industry standards, maintaining equipment, and liaising with dental professionals to meet their requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental technology, implant dentistry, leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Complex case management.
Management and Supervision:
- Supervise and manage a team of dental technicians and support staff.
- Schedule and assign tasks to ensure timely completion of work.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Quality Assurance:
- Work with Quality Control Manager to: 1. Ensure all dental prosthetics and appliances meet high-quality standards.
- 2. Implement and maintain quality control procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of work processes and products.
Operations and Workflow Management:
- Oversee the workflow and ensure efficient operations.
- Implement and monitor production schedules to meet deadlines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues that arise.
Equipment and Inventory Management:
- Maintain and service laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Order and manage inventory of materials and supplies.
- Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Conduct safety training and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Customer Service and Liaison:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for dental professionals and clients.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with dental professionals to understand and meet their needs.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and manage budgets, invoices, and financial reports.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, work completed, and inventory.
R&D
- Support research and development efforts as directed by VP of Lab and other company leadership
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Dental Technology, Biology, or a related field, preferred.
- Certification as a Dental Technician (CDT) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a dental laboratory.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Skills and Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of implant dentistry and componentry.
- Expert knowledge in all aspects of denture and hybrid fabrication including setting teeth, waxing, finishing, processing and digital design.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of dental laboratory procedures and materials.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in dental lab software and computer skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of occlusion philosophy
- Familiarity with industry trends, specifically in guided surgery options
Working Conditions:
Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday.
May require occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
Work is performed in a dental laboratory setting with exposure to various dental materials and equipment.
