Position Summary:
Reports to the center director. Directly supervises the director of health and wellness, student records manager, center support services manager, academic/program manager, and career technical training manager. Acts on behalf of the center director in his/her absence. Assists the center director in the planning and management of center operations and administrative affairs in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions:
+ Provide overall direction of center activities through effective planning, staff training, scheduling and evaluation in concert with the center director.
+ Conduct management meetings, maintain communication with student body through various conduits and maintain UAW (Utah Auto Workers) interface in the absence of the center director.
+ Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by the center director.
+ Ensure compliance with established budgets, purchase limitations, travel restrictions and general contract limitations; maintain stability and consistency with DOL and MTC goals and objectives.
+ Assist in formulating long range objectives, plans and programs.
+ Monitor labor budget and ensure staffing within budgetary limits.
+ Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting assigned programs; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives.
+ Assist center director in maintaining communication with student population.
+ Assist in analyzing statistical trends, organizational problems and operational requirements for review and appropriate action.
+ Oversee Privacy Act compliance and evaluation student panel compliance.
+ Ensure career development services system is integrated into each department of responsibility.
+ Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
+ Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
+ Participate in student employability programs and activities.
+ Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
+ Promote the development of career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
+ Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
+ It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree and five years related experience, three of which must be in a managerial capacity.
+ Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.
+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
