Works as a dynamic and experienced Deputy Director/Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead its technology initiatives. This position shapes the overall technology strategy, drives innovation, and ensures that the county’s infrastructure, applications, and security posture meet the demands of a modern, digital-first era under the direction and vision of the CIO. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IT infrastructure, modern application ecosystems, and cybersecurity practices, with a proven track record of leadership in complex public or private sector environments.

- Contributes to the development and execute a comprehensive technology strategy plan that aligns with the county's goals for efficiency, innovation, and service delivery.
- Leads the integration of modern technologies, including cloud computing, AI, and machine learning, to improve county services and operations.
- Works closely with department heads and stakeholders to identify technology solutions that enhance the county’s public service capabilities.
- Oversees the county’s critical IT infrastructure, ensuring that all data centers, servers, storage, and networking systems are optimized for high availability, scalability, and security.
- Ensures the efficient management of the county’s vast virtualized environments (including 1300+ virtual servers across multiple data centers) and ensure smooth operations across departments.
- Plans, directs, and maintains high-performance computing resources and large-scale data management (12 petabytes), ensuring capacity planning and disaster recovery strategies are in place.
- Manages and modernizes the county’s portfolio of applications, ensuring that systems are secure, scalable, and user-friendly, with a focus on cloud-first approaches.
- Leads the development and integration of data-driven applications and platforms that streamline government operations, improve service delivery, and meet citizen needs.
- Works collaboratively with various departments to ensure the seamless integration of mission-critical applications.
- Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies to protect county data and services against evolving threats.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including privacy and data protection laws.
- Leads efforts to strengthen the county’s incident response and threat detection capabilities, including overseeing vulnerability assessments, audits, and continuous monitoring.
- Ensures seamless implementation and process for deploying technology solutions across platforms and ensures operational reliability and continuity.
- Manages, coaches and develops an assigned team of directors and branch managers in DIT.
- Establishes priorities, implements and manages a skills management and competency development process for IT staff.
- Acts as an integral part of the leadership team, working closely with other IT and business leaders to develop and execute IT programs.
- In the absence of the director, may be designated to serve in that role.
- Stays abreast of IT trends and developments and incorporates new ideas into planning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
