Overview
Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is seeking a Deputy Manager, Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) Operations to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.
The Deputy Operations Manager directs and leads safe operations for assigned facility. Provides direct line responsibility for day support staff. Provides direct support to the Operations Manager and acts on his/her behalf by providing leadership to project interfaces and facility support organizations during implementation of facility changes, waste transfers, safety basis changes, and other improvements including procedures (both operating and administrative) and ticklers (both operations and preventive maintenance). Plans, organizes and directs short and long-range resource requirements and programs to continually improve Conduct of Operations and foster a Nuclear Safety Culture.
Responsibilities
+ Reports to and carries out instructions from the Operations Manager and/or Facility Manager.
+ Manages the safe and efficient operation of the facility to meet DOE requirements.
+ Manages, plans, prioritizes, and coordinates procedures, ticklers, and waste transfers (including procedures and ERD implementation) to achieve processing PEMP goals for optimum operation efficiency and safety.
+ Attends daily facility meetings including Shift Turnover Briefing, POD (Plan of the Day), POW (Plan of the Week), Work Control planning meetings, among other Project Meetings.
+ Provides direction to operations team members in support of projects.
+ Provides input into the selection, training, and qualification of operations personnel.
+ Develops and implements the facility mission, vision and principles including facility specific operations performance goals and standards consistent with company and facility objectives.
+ Ensures AOP/EOPs and other administrative operations procedures are consistent for the facility.
+ Manages and integrates project and process improvements into existing facilities without disruption of the production mission. Ensures implementation and/or necessary project OAC activities are integrated.
+ Fosters an environment in which all work is performed utilizing DOE/INPO Conduct of Operations Standards and HPI tools within a Safety Conscious Work Environment/Nuclear Safety Culture.
+ Conducts investigations of operations abnormal events to identify and correct the root cause of the event, corrective actions, and evaluates against ORPS criteria.
+ Provides oversight and assessment of all operations. Reviews documentation, logs, and procedures to ensure standards and objectives are being met.
+ Participates as Senior Supervisor during Senior Supervisory Watch (which may include off hours and weekends).
+ Interfaces with management across the organization, external and internal customers, including DOE facility personnel and DNFSB.
+ Ongoing training and testing as a member of the Site ERO, and FOSC committee is required.
+ Participates on the MRT and CARB for the Facility, as required.
+ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline with experience in a relevant engineering, operations and/or maintenance function; or
+ Associates of Science or Associates of Applied Science degree or non-technical Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in engineering, operations or maintenance function; or
+ High School Diploma or GED with relevant experience in engineering, operations or maintenance function
Additional Information:
+ Current qualification as a Shift Operations Manager within the hiring facility will be credited as one additional year of experience
+ Deviations to Education and Experience Requirements must follow requirements of DOE Order 426.2.
+ Must complete qualifications for facility FOSC and applicable Emergency Response position within six (6) months of beginning the position
Preferred Qualifications
+ BS or MS in Engineering highly preferred
+ Four or more years Nuclear Experience at a nuclear site/facility
+ Demonstrated leadership experience including previous direct people management
+ Project management experience
+ Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations, DOE orders and knowledge of company policies
