- Technical Specifications: Develop, document, and oversee the creation of detailed technical specifications, including mechanical, structural, and electrical components.
- 3D Modeling & CAD: Utilize advanced CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create precise 3D models, drawings, and simulations to validate design feasibility.
- Electrical & Mechanical Integration: Work on complex designs that integrate electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical elements for optimized performance.
- Structural Analysis & Testing: Perform structural calculations and simulations to validate product designs, ensuring they meet safety, reliability, and quality standards.
- Material Selection: Optimize material usage for durability, efficiency, and cost, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (sales, production, and engineering) to ensure seamless design implementation and product success.
- Prototype Development: Lead the prototyping phase, overseeing fabrication and testing of new designs to ensure compliance with performance and safety regulations.
- Innovation: Stay up to date with emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques to integrate innovative solutions into our designs.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, balancing timelines, budgets, and design quality.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in vehicle, trailer, or equipment design, with a focus on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expert in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and drafting.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation tools to test structural integrity.
- Proficient in electrical systems design, including wiring schematics, control systems, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and thermal management.
- Experience with material selection and manufacturing processes (e.g., metal fabrication, composites).
- Certifications: SolidWorks certification and Lean Six Sigma (preferred).
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with MS Office and ERP systems like Sage X3.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of precision in design and documentation to ensure all aspects of the product are accurate and meet requirements.
- Team-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Flexibility & Independence: Ability to adapt to evolving project demands and work independently when needed.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
