We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer who possesses the ability to plan and design mechanical equipment. We are looking for an expert in the industry who can provide technical guidance to the Cornell team. You will have the opportunity to work with other talented Engineers, Sales, and a Manufacturing team of experts.
The annual salary range is: $60,000 - $90,000 (DOE)

What you'll do:
- Manage projects and resources to develop new product lines that serve Cornell Pump's strategic growth initiatives
- Work with key stakeholders to develop project proposals including market research and feasibility studies, propose project scope and define breadth of product lines, and develop cost estimates/economic project values and development schedules
- Coordinate and perform mechanical design & analysis of centrifugal pumps, including but not limited to hydraulic design, machine components, metallurgical requirements, and appropriate application of machine components (bearings, mechanical seals, gasketed joints, static seals, etc.)
- Mechanical design & analysis of integrated pump drivers, specifically submersible electric motors
- Navigate, coordinate, and apply appropriate governing standards and certification requirements to meet application specifications
- Coordinate sourcing efforts to support the NPD (new product development) process. Evaluate and develop potential and existing suppliers to communicate project goals, deadlines, technical challenges, pricing, and delivery
- Design, schedule, coordinate, and/or perform all required product testing for centrifugal pumps and electric drivers. Advanced knowledge of data trends and results analysis is highly preferred
- Knowledge of pressure transducers, flow meters, vibration accelerometers, and other rotating equipment sensors. Data acquisition, control systems, and integrated condition monitoring experience is preferred
- Provide dealer, end user, and sales staff training in product application and maintenance
- Provide technical support to other departments, including sales and manufacturing, field troubleshooting, product application, value engineering, and problem-solving
- Investigate to determine causes of reported field problems with products, including warranty requests for failed products. This will require travel in some instances
What we're looking for:
- 2+ years' experience with proven proficiency in the following areas:
- Proven project management success in releasing products in a fast-paced New Product Development environment (required)
- Detailed knowledge of mechanical function, design, and assembly of electric motors (required)
- Design of submersible electrically driven centrifugal pumps (preferred)
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering (required)
- Strong background in integrated Electrical/Mechanical assembly design
- Solidworks proficiency (equivalent 3D modeling software experience will be considered)
- Strong mechanical inclination (experience working with hand and power tools, and dealing with large and complex mechanical assemblies)
- Experience with specification, design, and operation of electrical motors and control systems (VFDs, motor starters, PLC logic, PID control, remote condition monitoring, etc.)
Certificates and/or Licenses Requirements:
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
- PMP (Project Management Professional) preferred
- Solidworks training/certificates (CSWA, CSWP, etc.) preferred
