The Design Engineer conducts continuous research within and beyond the marine industry to stay updated on emerging trends. The work is performed under general supervision, with prescribed guidelines, but requires independent action.

Position Summary:
The Design Engineer is responsible for guiding projects seamlessly from concept to production. This role involves conceptualizing new product designs, aiding in their implementation, and facilitating model changes to align with optimal trends. The Design Engineer conducts continuous research within and beyond the marine industry to stay updated on emerging trends. The work is performed under general supervision, with prescribed guidelines, but requires independent action.
Job Responsibilities:
- Overseeing product development from the conceptual stage to production phase-in for new products, under the supervision of the Design Engineering Manager.
- Providing detailed design and supporting tooling vendors.
- Troubleshooting design-related production issues in collaboration with Process Engineering and Quality Control.
- Developing Bills of Materials (B.O.M.).
- Creating layouts of B.O.M. on drawings and assemblies.
- Interfacing with suppliers to ensure accurate product applications and installations.
- Direct involvement in the development and testing of new products and prototypes.
- Continuously developing and implementing upgrades to products once in production.
- Ensuring effective interdepartmental communication.
- Ensuring the timely and adequate completion of all applicable project phases.
- Managing supplied personal project folders with complete and updated information.
- Coordinating and maintaining 3-D CAD models, including interface fit, detail, and completion of all assigned new models.
- Developing engineering "detailed" drawings based on conceptual arrangements.
- Providing technical product assistance to Service Department.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in marine design and a mechanical background with knowledge of the production process preferred.
- Strong background in CAD and engineering.
- Commitment to quality and standards accepted by societies and the industry.
- Ability to interface well with other employees and the public, demonstrating strong teamwork.
- Working knowledge of PC-based software (Word, Excel, M.S. Project, etc.).
