PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The responsibility of this position is to lead the team of Design Engineers and CAD Designers to meet the expectations of our customers as well as communicate requirements clearly to production in the forms of CAD drawings. You will hold your direct reports accountable in adherence to the following set process and procedures. You will also be expected to work with a cross functional team to develop best practices, policies, and procedures to meet the goals of the department, company, and projects.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Define and improve efficient engineering processes to optimize productivity and quality.
- Contribute cross-functionally to align all business disciplines.
- Lead and mentor by encouraging a collaborative and cohesive team and work environment.
- Assist in allocation of resources across business segments to ensure best use of skills to achieve a timely delivery.
- Manage change while safeguarding minimal disruption.
- Put quality controls in place to ensure accuracy, compliance with standards, and adherence to project commitments.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for the use of all engineering software packages (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, and ASME pressure Vessel calculations)
- Provide guidance with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) during engineering and layout phase.
- Resolve technical issues and challenges promptly, utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Acquire and manage technical resources.
- Identify needs and supports recruiting and hiring of resources.
- Hire/Terminate/Promote/Performance Intervention.
- Professional development (career and training).
- Deliver performance feedback, discuss compensation management, professional development, training, and ensure the general well-being of the resource.
- Manage succession plan.

Requirements:QUALITIFCATIONS FOR ENTRY:
BS degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Machine Design, Process Design, or related field with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing as a leader or supervisor of people or teams. Experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Solid experience with product design and manufacturing in a metal fabrication environment.
- Experience with code welding (ASME, PED, and AWS) strongly preferred.
- 3D CAD required (preferably Solid Works).
- Knowledge of GD&T principles strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of FEA calculations preferred.
- Experience with customer interaction and working under time constraints a definite plus.
- Experience with software/controls engineering and system design principles a plus.
- Professional work experience reviewing and analyzing prototypes and product modifications preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Detail-oriented with planning and monitoring skills.
- Must exhibit leadership and sound decision-making qualities.
- Excellent internal communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid teamwork and organizational skills including attention to detail, problem solving and multi-tasking.
