Job Overview
RL Canning is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join our Managed Services team in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and helping to resolve technical issues related to desktop systems, applications, and peripherals, specifically as it relates to upgrading from Windows 10 to 11.
In this role, you will
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for troubleshooting procedures, system configurations, and support processes.
- Work closely with IT teams to coordinate support efforts, share knowledge, and help implement new technologies (mostly hardware).
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve software issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct thorough software testing to detect bugs, improve functionality, and maintain high-quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.
- Assist with end-user support-related tasks, incidents, change requests, and events as requested.
- Perform troubleshooting for Windows and laptop/desktop incidents and requests.
- Perform troubleshooting for standard business applications (Microsoft Office suite, Adobe) and specialty applications coordinating with 3rd party application vendors when needed.
- Install approved software and changes as approved.
- Install new or replaced end-user devices, including laptops/desktops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Coordinate with various support partners and internal IT services to assist with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of end-user devices and equipment, including desktops/laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Perform other tasks as necessary to support and achieve business objectives.
