Role and Team
- Reporting to Detail Shop Manager or designated manager, assist in operating the detail shop in accordance with corporate guidelines to ensure maximum production volume and profitability. Direct the work in an efficient and productive manner to the standards required for quality detail work and service to the auction customers. Perform all additional duties assigned by the Detail Shop Manager or designated manager. Must know, practice, and ensure that company policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal laws are followed at all times.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt and courteous service both in person and on the phone. Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment consistent with company policy.
- Ensure that customers receive prompt, courteous and efficient service from all employees.
- Assist in resolving any customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner and advise the Detail Shop Manager or designee of all serious complaints or incidents.
- Assist the Detail Shop Manager or designated manager in coordinating recruiting and hiring process and procedures for detail shop staffing with Human Resources Representative per company policy.
- Assist the Detail Shop Manager or designee in developing, coordinating and training all employees within the department in accordance with company policy and guidelines. Monitor training conducted to ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
- Assist the Detail Shop Manager or designated manager to ensure the detail shop is properly staffed at all times to workload requirements.
- Assist in managing controllable expenses and cost items affecting profitability of the detail shop. Order supplies and forms as needed.
- May prepare and conduct performance appraisals for direct reports per company policy.
- Maintain and promote positive employee relations and morale whenever possible by practicing sound leadership and human relations principles to promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
- Assist the Detail Shop Manager or designee in monitoring inventory levels and work with other Managers to ensure maximum turnover of inventory without loss of sales. Advise and assist with corrective procedures when needed. Initiate and complete accurate inventory transfers as instructed.
- May assist the Detail Shop Manager in monitoring and ensuring compliance with all contractual customer, contractor and supplier agreements in conjunction with the accounting department.
- Assist the Detail Shop Manager in monitoring and controlling conditions of all facilities, vehicles, property and equipment under Detail Shop control for proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety. Conduct periodic routine inspections to determine and ensure that standards are met per auction and company guidance. Advise Detail Shop Manager or designated manager of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately.
- Assist the Detail Shop Manager or designated manager to make sure all detail shop area conditions are not a potential threat to employee or customer safety. Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee or customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to Detail Shop Manager or designated manager immediately per auction policy. Practice and instruct all employees in proper loss prevention and reaction procedures per company policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous detail shop experience preferred.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must have the ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
