DevOps / Automation Engineer
TS/SCI clearance required
Herndon, VA – onsite 4-6 hours a day
$180-200K
Core Qualifications:
Primary need today is someone who is able to interface with the Principal Systems Architect on Tier 4 / complex issues and interact with an OCONUS/UK based software development team on active operations and maintenance work supporting a government deployment of over 200 servers.
This candidate needs to be strong in understanding of Linux (CentOS/Rocky/Red Hat) OS engineering (not just administration) and scripting (Python) in support of O&M activity.
• TS/SCI clearance (Poly preferred)
• Ability to obtain a medical clearance to travel.
• Ability to support short-term international travel.
• 3-5 years of Linux / Unix system administration experience.
• 2+ years of direct experience in either or all systems design & architecture, integration & testing, data analysis, and capability development.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or related field (or relevant experience as substitute).
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and solving problems in complex systems environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Understanding of mobile telecom network architectures and related hardware, software, and protocols.
• Experience working directly with development team to resolve software and hardware problems and applying software and hardware patches.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, NAT, routing and switching.
• Experience with analyzing logs, stack traces, debug libraries, software/hardware.
• Possesses an understanding of Python, Bash, SQL databases.
• Create installation guides and as-built documentation.
• Experience with Linux firewall and VPN configuration
Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain various technical equipment, including server components and software, manage virtual servers.
• Supervise & perform troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, running diagnostics, documenting problems, prioritizing resolutions, and assessing risk.
• Assist with the OEM level design and development of internal solutions to meet customer requirements.
• Design, test, and implement process and systems automation capabilities to improve overall operational effectiveness and performance.
