About the Job
Origami is seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer to be part of a rapidly growing team that’s responsible for design, build and delivery of the application stacks for product teams in a cloud-based environment. You will be working closely with software and QA engineers, to build and maintain the right cloud infrastructure, balancing performance and resilience with cost. As part of a growing team focused on emergent technologies, you will create CI/CD pipelines and work across functions such as development, testing, and production to ensure quality, security, and reliability.
Starting base pay for this role is between $100,000 and $122,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, training, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will be eligible for a bonus as well as competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, wellness reimbursement, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match. We offer vacation and sick leave benefits (under a flexible time off policy in most states).
Responsibilities
- Automate deployment and lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code orchestrators such as Terraform or equivalent in AWS, leveraging EC2, Autoscaling Groups, Security Groups, Route53, S3, IAM and other services.
- Automate application configuration using CM tools such as Ansible Playbooks and/or Kubernetes Templates.
- Creating pipelines, managing pool of agents, tracking artifacts using cloud-native tools, or best-of-breed tools such as Azure DevOps, TeamCity and Octopus Deploy.
- Designs, develops, tests, and documents new automated solutions to improve current and new processes.
- Research new technologies and best practices to create and improve new or existing processes.
- Identifies, diagnoses, and corrects issues related to the operating systems, software, utilities, AWS environment and ancillary services via Ansible
- Performs daily system monitoring, verifies the integrity, availability and performance of the infrastructure environment, server resources, systems and key processes, reviews system and application logs, and verifies completion of scheduled jobs.
- Conducts system analysis, configuration management and develops improvements for system performance, availability, and reliability.
- Manages system backup / disaster recovery procedures; participates in disaster recovery efforts including regular testing.
- Addresses and resolves critical system issues as needed on a 24X7 basis including notification, escalation, and coordination across the organization.
- Manages and addresses incident tickets and change requests within pre-defined service level agreements.
- Regularly communicates status of incidents and requests with customers and key stakeholders as dictated by the severity and circumstances of the incident.
- Maintains updated documentation of all in-progress and completed projects in appropriate systems as required by team management.
- Creates and maintains system documentation for organizational technologies, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in computer science or related field, or commensurate on-the-job experience.
- Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- 3+ years previous experience for DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure.
- Proficient in multiple scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Basic knowledge SumoLogic, AWS and CloudWatch.
- Proficient in AWS Cloud, NGINX, Twingate, Ansible (or equivalent like Puppet or Chef)
- CI/CD: AWS Code deploy, AWS Code Build, Jenkins, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy (or similar tools)
- Services: IIS, AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, Apache Tomcat, Kerberos, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NGINX
- Experience with a variety of operating systems and technologies to support a diverse environment.
- Windows 2016/2019, RHEL, CentOS
- Experience with Container technologies such as Docker, AWS ECS and AWS EKS preferred
- Design, document, and implement automated unit-testing for a real-time configuration management system preferred.
- Familiarity with Monitoring tools like Datadog and New Relic preferred.
