Job Description
- Elite-level thought-leadership and evangelism in a large, complex organization to help drive DevOps discipline (continuous integration, deployment, and delivery processes) into diverse, interdependent application development teams. Ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and deploying end-to-end build, package, and deployment systems in a large-scale Microsoft-centric environment. Candidate should be experienced with current continuous delivery and agile best practices as well as strategies for porting existing projects and teams onto new toolsets. Critical tools experience includes VMWare Integrated OpenStack, Heat Templates, PowerShell. Spinnaker is a major plus!
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate creative thinking, excellent influencing/communications skills and exemplary teamwork
- Work directly with software developers throughout the organization to determine and address critical needs
- Evaluate and advise on 3rd party CI/CD toolsets (including gaps and mitigation approaches)
- Perform technical proof-of-concept work and demonstrations
- Provide level 3 support for DevOps tools
- Automate and monitor enforcement of development and build best practices
Requirements – Demonstrate the Following
- 5+ years of software development in an OOP language (C#, Java, etc.)
- 2+ years of DevOps or SCM experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, BuildForge, etc.)
- Expert-level proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience among the following:
- Pipeline tools or development of custom pipeline operations (GoCD, Spinnaker, TravisCI, etc.)
- Packaging and deployment of .Net or Java applications
- Systems administration and operating system configuration of Windows Server operating systems
- Virtualization technologies and virtualization API's (VMWare, OpenStack, Hyper-V, etc.)
- Container technologies such as Docker
- Hardware/Hosting projects
- Strong software development background, understanding of OOP concepts and software development best practices
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
