SUMMARY:
Senior level imaging positon works independently to perform complex diagnosis and repair of imaging systems under the guidance of the Diagnostic Imaging Lead and/or the Clinical Engineering Manager. This individual will perform preventative maintenance, repair and calibration of imaging equipment and may, from time to time, be required to work on biomedical equipment in support of the departments goals and requirements. May oversee, mentor or coach Diagnostic Imaging Service Engineers in the preventive maintenance, repair and calibration of imaging equipment. Coordinates vendor service and works within established NFPA, FDA, and state and department guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identify high voltage and electrical safety hazards and repairs, resolves or reports them to Lead or the Clinical Engineering Manager.
Analyzes complex problems with diagnostic imaging equipment for causes of failure; isolates, tests, and replaces defective parts; uses available test equipment to test functioning problems and repair medical devices.
Works independently to analyze and resolve imaging equipment issues; escalates very complex problems to Lead or Manager, as needed, to ensure imaging equipment issues are addressed in the most effective manner possible.
Works with equipment manufacturers on repair work and orders parts needed for equipment maintenance.
Performs preventive maintenance inspections, electrical safety testing and repairs on imaging equipment and on biomedical equipment, as required by Manager.
Makes necessary operational adjustments to diagnostic imaging equipment and takes sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy measurements.
Assists Diagnostic Imaging Service Engineers in the diagnosis, repair or maintenance of imaging equipment, as needed.
Follows established departmental guidelines regarding PM and repair documentation and completion.
Exhibits a very high level of communication, customer service, and an ability to interact successfully with hospital staff.
Under the guidance of an Imaging Lead, provides engineering and technical counsel on codes and standards, maintenance, and repair of imaging and medical equipment in clinical and non-clinical areas; establishes appropriate safety standards.
Provides correct, precise, and timely documentation of maintenance actions performed including documentation required by regulatory agencies.
Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic imaging service requests.
Exhibits excellence in process, accuracy and compliance.
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Four year degree in an engineering or healthcare technology related field is desired. An Associates Degree or Technical School Degree is required.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years experience as a Diagnostic Imaging Service Engineer, five (5) plus years of Biomedical equipment service experience with increasing knowledge of complexity or similar experience. Prior computer networking knowledge or experience is preferred.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: CRES preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the best practices for the
Knowledge of basic biomedical equipment, which includes but is not limited to: Doppler Blood Flow devices, sphygmomanometers, centrifuges, digital thermometers, digital scales, some infusion devices, and exercise equipment including treadmills.
Skill in performing preventative maintenance and repairs to mechanical and electrical biomedical equipment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to listen and accurately interpret others' communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability and willingness to work flexible or changing hours to meet the service needs of the imaging departments. This includes nights and/or weekends.
Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for imaging equipment.
