Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Technician

Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services is looking for an experienced veterinary technician to join our team with a focus in Diagnostic Imaging. The BSVESS team is made up of a talented and fun group of veterinary professionals who truly care about their patients and clients. Position Overview:
The Diagnostic Imaging Technician is responsible for producing quality images utilizing digital radiology and CT. From stable patients having elective diagnostic procedures, to critical patients undergoing diagnostics prior to life saving procedures, DI Technicians must be proficient in advanced monitoring and responsiveness to patient needs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Advanced knowledge of animal anatomy for proper positioning
- Completion of imaging requests from multiple departments
- Calculate medication doses
- Anesthetic induction and endotracheal intubation
- Proper use of anesthetic ventilator, rebreathing, and nonrebreathing systems
- Maintaining all necessary logs and equipment for the department
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years recent experience in veterinary practice with a focus in diagnostic imaging
- Veterinary Technician Certification, and/or Veterinary Technician Specialty in Diagnostic Imaging is preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills
- Compassion and love of animals
- Strong veterinary knowledge and skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations

BSVESS is located in Swansea, MA and is the sister hospital of Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, RI. BSVESS is moving into a newly renovated state-of-the art 36,000 sf building with a very busy emergency service and specialists in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, and Surgery. Joining the specialty services this summer will be Radiation and Medical Oncology. Specialized equipment includes digital radiography, telemetry, endoscopy, CT scanner, ultrasound, and a linear accelerator.
