Location & commitments
Part Time role based at our Greenville Arlington location, Monday-Thursday, 4:00-8:00 p.m. Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care of, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
Supervision Received: Reports to Diagnostic Manager; Director of Operations.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.
Typical Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
About the role
Provides professional assessment and nursing care for patients having diagnostic imaging. Follows demonstration of working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs within the framework of the office policies and procedures. Provides direct patient care for and treats patients in the office,
Responsibilities: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Brings specialized knowledge and skills to the diagnostics team, enhancing the overall quality of care provided to patients undergoing imaging procedures.
- Ensures that all necessary patient information is communicated effectively, reducing the risk of errors and enhancing patient safety.
- Provides valuable support during imaging procedures, allowing the technologists to focus on their technical tasks.
- Explains procedures in a clear and compassionate manner fostering trust and cooperation from patient, which leads to better imaging results and smoother procedural experiences.
- Helps to reduce anxiety to the patient by answering their questions.
- Helps to assist diagnostics staff by calling patients from the waiting room to the procedure room.
- Starts intravenous fluids to inject special dyes or contrast mediums into patients; disconnects IV.
- Identifying unexpected reactions in patients during procedures and administering meds as needed.
- Accesses patients who have taken oral sedation for their MRI procedure and assures they have a driver present.
- Monitors vital signs as needed.
- Provides a Safe environment/Managing emergency situations.
- Follow standing orders as directed by department policies
- Helps to maintain rooms and clinic areas.
- Disinfect Diagnostic waiting rooms
- Able to assist with desktop management for providers and staff
Other duties:
- Maintains patient confidentially.
- Keep management informed of high-risk situations.
- Maintains licensure in accordance with North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Practice infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy.
- Maintain CPR certification.
- Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance, and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East.
- Adheres to department and office policies.
Candidate requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Licensure: Must be registered with NCBON and in good standing.
- Experience in electronic medical records (EMR/HER) software required.
- Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.
- Ability to actively listen.
- Ability to observe and to draft a narrative account of events accurately and cogently, in grammatically correct English.
- Ability to spell, proofread and edit written text.
