The Patient Care Technician (PCT) / Educator Assistant provides care to patients with end-stage renal disease, supporting clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process to deliver prescribed treatments. Our PCTs are an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in ensuring safe care and the highest quality outcomes for every patient. This position will also assist the Nurse Educator with administrative duties to support the continuing training and education of patient care staff at our Ukiah and Ft. Bragg clinics.
Schedule: Full-time, four 10-hour shifts, 0445-1515; Sundays off; no overnight shifts
Compensation: Pay range from $23-$33 per hour, depending on healthcare experience; experience not required

Provides training to patient care staff according to the corporate education plan which includes responsibility for:
- Ensuring Corporate Education plan is followed and staying on course with the schedule and documenting progress on Corporate Education plan.
- Overseeing preceptor progress with employee and reading weekly report of the training progress.
- Reporting any training issues to the RN Educator and Nurse Manager.
- Ensuring staff are only independently assigned duties that they have been trained to do as indicated on their skills checklist.
- Competency testing employees before making them independent- this includes experienced or inexperienced staff.
- Training preceptors using the corporate preceptor program before they are allowed to precept.
- Demonstrating all skills required for the employee before they are sent to a preceptor to practice those skills.
- Ensuring mock codes are done quarterly in each clinic.
- Ensuring fire drills are done in each clinic quarterly.
- Ensuring CPR training is available and that employees CPR is always current.
- Ensuring additional training is provided to meet state requirements.
- Training on any new policy and procedures used in the clinic after Governing Body approval.
- Training post any survey deficiency identification in accordance with the plan of correction submitted.
- Updating and reviewing Provider Trust on a weekly basis and as needed.
- Training new employees on basic MIS skills.

Education/Training:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- CNA, EMT, medical assistant, CNT and/or phlebotomy skills
Must have an in-depth working knowledge of the interpretive guidelines for ESRD facilities and serve as a resource to all clinical staff of the regulations contained in the interpretive guidelines.
Educator Assistant is required to have an in-depth working knowledge of the OSHA regulations and serve as a resource for all clinical staff for OSHA.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current CCHT certification and state certification, as applicable
- Current CPR/AED certification
