Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Precision Optics Equipment Engineer for our Palm Bay, FL location. As a Precision Optics Equipment Engineer in the Microelectronics Division, you will play a crucial role in supporting development and manufacturing efforts as the technical expert for our precision optics, milling, and dicing equipment sets. Your primary focus will be on the installation, setup, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring that the installation process is seamless, and the tools are optimized to meet production requirements efficiently. You will have regular interactions with equipment vendors, operations management, and a variety of engineering teams.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the installation and setup of new manufacturing equipment for government contract projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and successful integration of equipment into the production line.
- Conduct thorough equipment testing and verification to guarantee compliance with performance and safety standards.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for newly installed tools to sustain equipment reliability.
- Monitor equipment performance metrics, analyze data, and implement measures to improve Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and yield.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to tool installation or commissioning to minimize production downtime.
- Work closely with equipment suppliers and vendors to coordinate the delivery, installation, and qualification of tools.
- Collaborate with Process Engineers to optimize tool settings and parameters for specific precision optics, milling, and dicing processes.
- Implement and follow safety protocols and adhere to industry regulations during the installation and setup processes.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including installation procedures, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance records.
- Perform on-the-job training for incoming new hires as the team grows.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- 4+ years of experience in equipment engineering, with a strong focus on tool installation, preferably in for a federal contractor.
- Ability to Obtain Top Secret / SCI w/Poly
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Top Secret Clearance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Must have computer skills including MS Windows and Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project).
- Must be a team player, pro-active, and customer-oriented with a sense of urgency to accomplish a given task or goal.
- Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and follow-through.
- Ability to lead teams, train, and mentor personnel
- Lean Six Sigma Certification.
- Experience working in classified government programs.
- Previous experience working in a Class 100 cleanroom.
- Previous experience using commercial Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Previous hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment installation and setup with precision optics, milling, and dicing equipment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical issues related to precision optics equipment.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards and protocols related to precision optics equipment installation and operation.
- Experience in implementing lean/six sigma techniques (FMEA, DFMA, DTC, DOE, and root cause/corrective action analysis).
